Garage Door Installation is a complex process that requires a great deal of expertise and technical knowledge. It is also time-consuming, so it is a good idea to hire a professional to install the door.

Before the installation begins, the professionals will perform a site inspection to confirm that they can install the garage door in your home. They will also check to see if any obstructions, such as light fixtures or outlets, are in the way of the installation process.

Once the site inspection is completed, they will work with you to schedule an installation date and time. During the installation, they will use a measuring tape to determine the exact size of the opening and make sure that they are installing it correctly.

The next step in the installation process is to assemble the garage door. The door comes in sections that need to be stacked in the rough door opening. The sections are then nailed together and held temporarily to keep them from moving during the installation.

When the entire door is assembled, it is then lowered into the garage opening and held in place by an assistant. Once the garage door is in place, it is nailed down to the frame using screws.

It is also a good idea to pre-drill the holes for the hinges connecting the top and bottom panels before putting the first panel in place. This will help ensure that the hinges are tight and that the doors will close properly.

After the first panel is in place, you should secure the top plate of the vertical track to each side of the door opening with lag screws that are driven into sound framing. The lag screws should not be completely tightened yet because you may need to adjust the tracks later.

Next, secure the roller wheels with L-brackets. The roller wheels are raised about 1/2 inch off the floor and wrap around the vertical track to keep them in line with the opener.

Once the rollers are in place, it is a good idea to attach the operator reinforcement bracket to the garage door section. This will help to prevent damage to the door and the opener when they are both being used at the same time.

If you are installing a new garage door, consider adding glass insets to increase privacy and add an attractive design element to the garage. This is an affordable way to upgrade the aesthetics of your house while enhancing security.

The glass can come in a variety of colors and finishes to match the style of your home. Depending on your budget, you can choose between single-pane tempered glass, impact-rated insulated glass or double-glass insets.

If you want to improve your garage door’s safety, it is a good idea to purchase infrared sensors that can automatically reverse the garage door and open it when a small child or pet runs under the opening. It is also a good idea to install motion sensors that detect when someone is entering or exiting the garage.
